hi, my name is stephanie. i'm 21 years old, and i love life, soup, and will smith. i'm a makeup junkie and i’ve always wanted to do the youtube thing and do videos but unfortunately i don’t really have the means to do so all of the time, and i feel that when you have a channel you need to be taking care of it all the time. however … a blog, i can do. i think i have some useful tips and advice, so who knows, maybe this’ll take off :)
summertime necessities;

OH MY GOD. it’s been, like, 20+ degrees this week in manitoba and i am SUPER excited about it. of course, with the rising temperatures comes a slew of new beauty products. here are the products that i rely on in the summertime: image
jergens natural glow daily moisturizer: i’m not a big fan of a tan from a bottle, i prefer to get my color the hanging out at the beach or in my awesome back yard (i know, i know, UV rays, skin cancer, etc… don’t worry, i use SPF 81274). but during the first few weeks of summer, when my skin is so white it’s practically glowing, i rely pretty heavily on this product to get me through until i am no longer …blinding. it’s a gradual build, and it’s very hard to apply wrong so you don’t need to worry about streaks or patches! and it doesn’t smell terrible, which is nice! image
coppertone oil free sunscreen lotion: it’s my favourite because it’s oil free - let’s be real, no one needs any extra shine on their face during the summer, am i right? image
aveeno active naturals skin relief moisturizing lotion: SUCH a life saver. i burn super easily, and this is the only way that i’m able to, like, wear clothes or get in bed without bursting into flames. i found it two summers ago when i was at a resort with my family, and i burned super badly after spending a day on the boat (despite the layers upon layers of SPF 60 i was wearing). i ran to the nearest Target to search desperately for Aloe. they were out, but i picked this up instead. it has an awesome cooling action, so it soothes your skin imminently, while moisturizing and hydrating your skin for long-term relief and repair. seriously. if you don’t own this, go buy it. like 20 minutes ago. image
physicians formula mineral wear talc-free correcting power: in the summertime, my foundation routine goes down to the minimum. i don’t like to wear a primer, but i have a teensy bit of hyper-pigmentation, so i prefer to. this is super light and corrects the discoloration in my skin like a dream. image
NYC sun n’ bronze bronzing powder: i’m not a huge bronzer/blush/face person, but this is a recent discovery that i love. it’s got a nice color to it, the perfect amount of shimmer, and it gives this flawless, sunny glow without being overbearing. definitely worth the $4 ;) image
chapstick SPF 30: this is super basic, but definitely necessary. there is nothing worse that sunburned lips, my god. aaaaaaand that’s it. this is what keeps my summertime beauty regiment in check. what are your favourite sunshine-weather products? :)

spring lip products:

it is finally starting to warm up where i live (+3 on friday, what whaaat!), and in celebration, i have broken out my entire spring wardrobe, and i’ve starting spring-ifying my daily makeup.
if you know me at all, or even if you just follow me on instagram, you know that i’m obsessed with lip products. such a great way to bring a little color or fun into a look! so with that, i thought i’d do a post all about my top 10 lip colors for spring. it’s a mix of drugstore and high end makeup, and a variety of colors, so there’s something for everyone! we’ll start with the glosses, and then get into lipsticks/liners.

starting left to right…

wet n’ wild juicy lip balm: as far as i can tell, there’s no color name, but it’s this really nice tangerine/coral/orangy color. super fun color, nice and sheer but totally build-able as well.and it has SPF 15, which is so important if you’re spending any amount of time in the sun. nothing worse that sunburns, am i right?
covergirl lip perfection jumbo gloss balm: i have mentioned this once before in my first impressions post a few back, and i couldn’t find a name then, and i can’t now, haha! watermelon something, grr! it’s such a nice color though. a nice, sheer pink color, i think it would be perfect on any skin color, and it’s just such a nice springy color, you know?
smashbox limitless long wear lip gloss in forever: GORGEOUS pale, pearly, luminous, almost nudey pink color. wow, that was a mouthful. it is a teeny bit sticky, but it’s easy to get past because the color is so great. and this one is also SPF 15, which is great!
sephora lip gloss in pin-up pink: this is the lip gloss i wore today, and what inspired this post. it’s literally the best pink color i have ever worn, so pretty! my only issue is that the formula is a little bit liquidy, which makes it tough to apply. you definitely have to use a light hand, and make sure there’s not a lot of product on the applicator when you put it on. because of this, it goes on pretty sheer but it’s definitely a build-able gloss.
GOSH volume lip shine in 01: first off, this gloss is a lip plumper, but it doesn’t have that tingly feeling that most lip plumpers do, which is nice. i hate that feeling, haha. the color is a great peachy color, super pretty and easy to wear.

maybelline color vivids lipstick in hot plum: such a bright, bold, lovely purple. not too purple and plum-y for spring, though, you know? i feel like purples are more for fall/winter, but this one is vibrant enough to pull off in the warmer months, too.
maybelline color vivids lipstick in fuchsia flash: i could do an entire post about the vivids line, but i’ll stop after this one. i am absolutely in love with this color. it’s a perfect dupe for Kat Von D’s Backstage Bambi, but without all the hassle of application (seriously, if you own this, you know what a pain it is to apply. worth it, though!). of course, it doesn’t last as long as KvD’s lipstick, but for a fraction of the cost, and the same FANTASTIC color, i’ll take it.
MAC Girl About Town: my all time, holy grail, 100% FAVOURITE lip product. ever. EVER. i wear it year round. semi-matte finish, bold color, long lasting. it’s gorgeous. flawless. i love it.
MAC lip pencil in beet: i actually got this for christmas from my lovely cousins, along with MAC’s strong woman lipstick. this liner is fantastic because it can be put together with a purple, pink, or red lipstick and totally transform the color. i’ve really been liking wearing it with a pale pink lipstick, because it makes the shade a little bit more bold, and stand-out-ish, and if you’re going to pick a time to experiment with makeup, spring is the time to do it!
rimmel lasting finish by Kate lipstick in 90
i’ve mentioned this before in a post as well, and i’ve been loving it since then. a very easy-to-wear coral shade, this lipstick isn’t drying, it doesn’t feather, and it’s a very nice matte finish. it’s long lasting, and it looks super with or without a gloss. definitely recommended :)

whoaaaaa that was a lot longer than i was hoping! so i’ll keep this short - i like these. i hope you do, too!

yourstarlesseyesremain answered: what’s pose?

Pose is a cute little iPhone app that’s kind of like instagram, but just for fashion/OOTD photos and that kind of stuff. it’s really cool! :)

why didn’t anyone tell me…

urban decay’s 24/7 liquid eyeliner in perversion is the greatest thing i have ever put on my eyelids and i am in love with it. i want to marry it and have a wonderful life on the beach with it.

too far? i don’t even care

so, turns out that an eye primer was exactly what i needed to make that revlon photo ready quad work! it’s a great product but i must say, i like their colorstay line better.

first impressions:

i recently purchased a few makeup items and had some thoughts on them. so i thought i’d write them down :)

revlon colorstay ultimate suede lipstick
i got this in the color 090 private viewing. what i was looking for was a barely-there, nude color with a little shimmer. i was expecting the formula to be soft, and somewhat moisturizing, just from what i’d already heard about the product. upon first application, i was pretty disappointed - the product got all sticky and awkward after a few minutes, and the colour was a little more brown than i wanted. but after a few more tries, this product has really grown on me. it’s got a really nice shimmer and pigmentation, the lasting power is fabulous and when used on top of a lip balm, it’s not sticky at all - the texture is actually really nice, and the formula is super light-feeling, so you don’t feel like you’re wearing anything on your lips at all. i am definitely going to have to try this out in a few more shades!

revlon photoready primer, shadow + sparkle
i got this little palette in bohemian, which is the one with the blue lid colour, and brown crease shade. i’ve generally stayed away from the photoready line because i’m not really partial to that much glitter in my makeup, but makeupbyalli on youtube loved this little quad (is it a quad? does it qualify as a palette…? i don’t even know), so i thought i’d give it a shot. i’ve worn it twice now and i have to say, i’m fairly disappointed. which isn’t normal, as i generally love revlon products, particularly eye products. i don’t really understand how a powder primer works… but i’m going to assume it doesn’t, haha. all of the shadows apply super nicely and smooth, and the pigmentation is superb. but after a few hours, i find that the blue just fades to an awkward grey and it throws off the whole look.
to be fair, i haven’t tried this with an actual primer, like UD primer potion or anything, so i might have to post an update after i do that. i really do want to like this product, though, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

almay smart shade perfect & correct primer
i was super desperate for a primer, and as i don’t have a sephora or mac in my town, the drugstore was pretty much my only option, unless i wanted to spend $50 on a smashbox primer.
anyway. i love this primer. it comes in a green and purple formula; the green helps to correct your skintone, while the purple brightens your complexion. it really does just that, plus it makes your foundation go on like a dream, and it lasts all day. what else are you really looking for from a primer, right? overall it’s a great product. 10/10. would recommend.

covergirl lipperfection jumbo gloss balm
i purchased the 215 …watermelon something shade. i can’t find the name of it right now but i know it’s watermelon something, haha!
i typically stay away from covergirl products as everything i’ve tried turns into a hot ass mess, but i figured a lipgloss would he harmless, plus i really love the color. it’s a sheer gloss, with a pop of bight pink. it’s perfect for spring, and i’m really excited to wear it all summer.

rimmel london lasting finish by Kate lipstick
i bought this in 90, which is like a coraly-pinky shade, and 04, which is a deep, dark purple shade. the formula is fabulous - it’s super moisturizing, and goes on like a dream. the purple obviously isn’t a super wearable color for day time, but i do really like it for a more dramatic look, with a basic eye and simple blush, you know? the coral-pinky color, however, is wonderful and i wear it all the time.

anyyyyyway. that’s my tiny little makeup haul/review/first impressions blog. hope you liked it, and seriously, if anyone has any tips for that revlon shadow, i’d appreciate it!
